2 suspected drug dealers arrested

Tura, Sep 15: Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested by South Garo Hills police under Baghmara Police Station.
The two were holding a quantity of what has been identified as Yaba tablets, which contain a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.
The two had acquired the drugs from Krishnai, in the Goalpara district of Assam, and an investigation is currently underway to determine whether they were part of a larger network of drug traffickers.
“We had received source information of the two selling drugs and set up a team to nab them. Upon locating them and searching we found some cases which contained 1,001 tabs weighing about 99 grammes,” said Superintendent of Police, Priyanshu Pandey.
The two suspected dealers, whose identity has not been disclosed, were arrested from near the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank in Baghmara at about 3pm yesterday.
The two were produced in court with the police seeking custody to continue their investigation into the matter. The duo has been booked under various sections of the law and an FIR has been registered in Baghmara against them.
