More Covid cases in NEIGRIHMS

Shillong, Aug 9: NEIGRIHMS today recorded fresh Covid-19 cases which include health workers.
Briefing media persons here today, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that among the new cases recorded today are of a Lower Division Assistant and staff nurse of NEIGRIHMS and a health worker of the State’s Health department who has contact with a positive case in the institute.
Dr. War also said that the fresh cases among civilians in NEIGRIHMS include an attendant and a returnee from Nagaland.
He said that NEIGRIHMS has so far recorded 25 cases out of which four have been discharged.
The Director of Health Services also informed that yesterday night another health worker in TB Hospital here tested positive for Covid-19. The hospital has recorded 11 positive cases.
Dr. War also informed that 206 contacts of the Shillong Civil Hospital pharmacist who broke quarantine to drop his wife to the Rangthong PHC in South West Khasi Hills before he tested positive have been identified and all tested negative.
“We have managed to establish these persons during contact tracing at Rangthong and Mawkyrwat area,” Dr. War said.
“In Shillong, eight persons who came into contact with the pharmacist have been identified and their samples have been taken,” he added.
He also informed that the report of the test carried out on the wife of the pharmacist is still awaited.
Further, Dr. War also informed that four high risk contacts of the tea vendor in Khyndailad who are her co-workers have been identified even as he said that there are around 200 customers who visited the shop.
