HP NEWS SERVICE
Khliehriat, Jan 15: Two Nigerian nations were arrested at Umtyra in East Jaiñtia Hills for entering India without valid documents.
Two Nigerian nationals, travelling by night super bus from Agartala to Guwahati, were detected at the Infiltration Check Point in Umtyra and detained for interrogation, police said on Wednesday.
A case was registered at Khliehriat police station under the Foreigner’s Act.
The Nigerian nationals have been identified as James Obafor Omeya (32) of Anika 15 Awkas Street, Anambra and Paul Chidiebare Nwoon (28) of Aeopa, Lagos.
It may be mentioned that as many as 24 Nigerian nationals have been arrested from West and East Jaiñtia Hills districts of the state since September, last year for illegally sneaking into the country from Bangladesh.
Authorities suspect that these persons are helped by locals on either side of the international border. Police had earlier arrested four local people from Syndai Kmaishnong village who assisted the foreign nationals to cross the border.
