CAA has never been discussed: Samlin

Shillong, Jan 15: PHE minister Samlin Malngiang today said that the MDA government has never discussed about the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
However, he said that the state government was not satisfied with just a resolution to implement the inner line permit as it was eager to get the results from New Delhi.
There were demands from various quarters that the state government also passes an official resolution in the House against the CAA. Malngiang said, “We have not discussed about the matter nor have we sat for a meeting on the CAA.”
“If there’s a need for such a resolution this will be discussed in the MDA meeting,” he added.
But Malngiang said, “We want the final result of the ILP resolution passed by the House from Home Minister Amit Shah,” he said, adding, “Whatever the decision is, we can publicly clarify to the people on this issue.”
On the centre’s delay to take a decision on the resolution, he said, “We have discussed the issue with the Chief Minister who said that the matter needs to be speeded up before February.”
