CS stresses need for Aadhaar enrolment

Nongstoiñ, Dec 3: Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, PS Thangkhiew has stressed the importance of Aadhaar enrolment while pointing out that this is mandatory for government employees and beneficiaries of government schemes.
The Chief Secretary during his visit to Nongstoiñ met officials of the district administration at Circuit House, Nongstoiñ.
During the discussion with the officials of the district administration, Thangkhiew said, “Aadhaar enrolment is mandatory for government employees and also for those who are availing of central schemes. Without this number, work cannot go on,” he said.
Thangkhiew also stressed the importance of the census. Pointing out that the state government still depends on the Central government for the payment of salaries and the implementation of a number of schemes, Thangkhiew said that the funds received by the state in this regard depends on the census.
As such, Thangkhiew urged the district administration to ensure that these two issues are given due importance for the betterment of the common man in West Khasi Hills district and the state as a whole.
