Checking of licenses other than JHADC illegal

HP NEWS SERVICE
Jowai, Nov 26: The Executive Committee (EC) of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Jowai on Tuesday notified that only the employees of the council are empowered with checking of trading licences as per the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribal) Regulation Act 2011 and the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribal) Rules 2015.
“The checking of trading licences and Non-Tribal Employee’s Service Licence without showing the identity card issued by the council would be illegal,” the JHADC said.
The JHADC issued this notification after the state government directed the autonomous district councils not to allow any groups to check trading licences in their respective jurisdiction.
This direction to the autonomous district councils came after the District Council Affairs department was informed that there were un-authorised groups who were conducting checks on Trading Licence, Work Permit and Labour License especially in Shillong.
