Cooperative week celebrated in East Garo Hills

Williamnagar, Nov 19: Together with the rest of the country, East Garo Hills district also celebrated the 66th National Cooperative Week India under this year’s theme ‘Role of Cooperatives in New India’ and ‘New Initiatives of the Government through Cooperatives’.
This observation of the day was held through a program organized by the office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank at DRDA Hall in Williamnagar where the Zonal Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Garo Hills Region, AGA Sangma was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, AGA Sangma informed the gathering that this program is being organized every year throughout the country to create awareness about the importance of cooperation in up-lifting the rural economy.
On the day, the Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Williamnagar, delivered a speech on ‘Role of Cooperative in India’ and WC Marak, Director, RSETI, spoke at length about the ‘New Initiatives of the Govt. through Cooperatives’.
The others who spoke on the occasion included HA Sangma, the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Williamnagar and Habib Arengh, a prominent citizen and an active member of the cooperative societies of the region.
