BJP MDCs want probe report

Jowai, Nov 7: The four BJP MDCs in the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) have demanded the report of that the enquiry committee probing the alleged illegal appointment of 56 persons by the previous Executive Committee (EC).
The four MDCs comprising Lakhon Biam, Dawan Lyngdoh, Treilang Suchiang and Krison Langstang noted that though this committee has been tasked with probing this issue, it has not filed its report till date.
“We will raise the issue in the upcoming JHADC winter session slated from November 28,” Biam told media persons in Jowai today.
The four BJP MDCs also demanded an explanation for the delay in the release of the salaries of the MDCs and employees of the JHADC who have not been paid for the last six months.
They also urged the EC to find ways and means to ensure that the pending dues of all the MDCs and employees of the council are cleared especially with the Christmas season drawing near.
They also sought clarification from the present EC on the reason for stoppage of work for construction of Iawmusiang Complex and Jaiñtia Dorbar Hall for many years now.
“With regard to the Iawmusiang Super Market, the present EC should bring out a report as to why work on this backbone of economic activity of the people of Jaiñtia hills has been stopped. The same is the case with the Jaiñtia Dorbar Hall,” Biam said.
The four MDCs said that the present EC should be ready with its answers on these core issues before the upcoming winter session of the JHADC which will commence on November 28.
They also said that the EC should ensure that the upcoming session is held for at least two or three days such that the pending matters of the Council can be discussed and solutions arrived at.
